Delbert McClinton by Nelson Onofre

Posted on 5/21/2010 by Nelson Onofre

What's up fellow Blues fans! This week finds me posting photos of Delbert McClinton from a show at the BB King Blues Club in New York on April 30, 2010. I first got hip to Delbert when I picked up his 'Live From Austin' CD some years back. Great CD! I used to wear out the track 'Maybe Someday Baby'. A highly recommended CD to get if you don't already own it. The latest CD from this three-time Grammy winner is called 'Acquired Taste'.

As expected Delbert and the band were in fine form at BB's. An enthusiastic crowd was on hand to watch and hear Delbert tear it up. On this night I could not stay for the whole show, but I did stay long enough to hear Delbert play another one of my favorites, 'Going Back To Louisiana'. Delbert may be out on the road right now so go on out and catch this top-notch performer.

Its been reported that trumpet player Quentin Ware suffered a heart attack recently. He's doing well but please keep him in your prayers.

On a side note, it has been a few days now since the passing of Ronnie James Dio, hard rock/heavy metal vocalist extraordinaire and I would be remiss in not acknowledging this. As a kid, long before I knew what the Blues was about, I was getting my musical fix from bands like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Grand Funk Railroad, etc. The passing of Ronnie James Dio has really touched and saddened me as it has many in the rock community.

I saw the band DIO on October 25, 1983 at the Beacon Theater in New York during their
'Holy Diver' tour. I still have the ticket stub, that's how I remember the date. Ronnie went on to become one of rock's most enduring, beloved, and respected singers. Small in stature but oh, what a voice! I had tears in my eyes as I read the news of his passing. For me, this one hurt. R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio, and thank you! \m/

I would like to thank Liz Perantinides of BB King's and Laura Becker of Big Machine Media for their continued support.
Until the next go-round, keep supporting the Blues. As you can see these cats are working hard to lay it down for you.
