The Dutch Mason Blues Festival is Coming!!! - by J. blake

Posted on 6/04/2009 by J. Blake

To all our Canadian Blues brethren, mark your calendars, because one of the finest Blues Festivals around is gearing up for their 5th year of outstanding Blues, Bikes & BBQ!!!

On August 7th, 8th & 9th, The Dutch Mason Blues Festival in Truro, Nova Scotia is dishing up yet another year of good Ol’ fashioned southern style gluttony. Food and outdoor culinary artists will be in abundance as the festival once again hosts one of Canada’s tastiest Barbeque competitions. Don’t miss the Pro and Amateur Rib cook-offs and see who brings home the prize for 2009’s best BBQ sauce. Nothing says Blues quite like fine rubbed, extra saucy, gum smackin’ BBQ.

In addition, festival patrons will be treated to Atlantic Canada’s Motorcycle Lifestyles Show, where some of Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada’s best Pro and Custom Bike Builders showcase some of their hottest work. Show goers will also be able to participate by voting for their favorite bikes, helping to decide the winner of this year’s coveted People’s Choice Award. It’s guaranteed to bring out the rebel in everyone.

Last but not least, the festival once again pays tribute to its sadly departed and greatly missed namesake, Dutch Mason, by featuring some of the finest national and local Blues artists in the business. Mason, a Canadian Jazz and Blues Hall of Famer known by many as “The Prime Minister of the Blues”, will once again be looking down on the Truro Raceway & Exhibition Grounds with a smile on his face and undoubtedly an eagerness to be playing in his heart. He will be remembered fondly and as always will be gracing The Dutch Mason Blues Festival with not only his name, but his spirit.

This year’s performers have not yet been announced, but past Blues artists include Buddy Guy, Hubert Sumlin, Bo Diddley, James Cotton, Bonnie Raitt, Kenny Wayne Sheppard and Canada’s own Sue Foley among many others….

So if you’re only doing one thing this summer, do yourself a favor and make it The Dutch Mason Blues Festival in beautiful Bible Hill, Truro, Nova Scotia!!!
