John Nemeth by Nelson Onofre
New York City
What's up my fellow Blues fans! Well, I for one am glad that the 90+ degrees and high humidity weather of summer has made way for slightly cooler and refreshing weather. This week I am featuring some photos of the winner of the 2010 Living Blues Award for "Most Outstanding Blues Singer", John Nemeth. These are from a show at Terra Blues back in July. None other than Charlie Musselwhite has given John a great compliment. John spent some time with Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets and now leads his own band.
This was my second time seeing John but the first time as the main act. I had seen him at the BB King Blues Club on a bill with John Lee Hooker Jr. and Walter Trout. Clearly he was better the second time around as he had more time to stretch out and work at a nice relaxed pace. I found John and the band to be very entertaining and a pleasure to listen to. Between his harp playing and singing this is a guy that's going places. I particularly enjoyed his soulful R&B-flavored
vocals. Like I do with so many artists I see I encourage you to go catch John if he stops by a venue near you. Give this guy and his band a listen. Pick up his latest CD, 'Name The Day!'.
Thanks to Richard Lee of Terra Blues for letting me do my thing
