Blues Revue by Nelson Onofre
New York City
What's up my fellow Blues fans! This week I am featuring some photos of the Blues Revue that took place at the BB King Blues Club in New York back in April of this year. On the bill were Tommy Castro and his band, Debbie Davies and Joe Louis Walker. Tommy opened up the festivities in his usual fine form. Debbie came out after Tommy's set and was accompanied by Tommy's band as was Joe Louis Walker. I had seen Tommy and Joe Louis before so I knew what to expect but this was my first time seeing Debbie and I gotta tell you, she impressed the heck out of me.
Debbie was recruited by none other than Albert Collins to join his band so that pretty much speaks volumes about her blues chops. She's a solid blues player and I'd love to see her again. CDs are nice but nothing beats seeing a performer onstage. Of course as the show was winding down Tommy, Debbie and Joe Louis were all onstage together jamming. All in all it was a great show and a treat to see talent of this caliber together. Kudos to Tommy's band for doing a great job all night long.
As always thanks to Laura Becker for the guest list/photo credentials.
