Matt Schofield by Nelson Onofre
OK my fellow Blues lovers, this week I am featuring photos of Matt Schofield. I had heard good things about Matt but did not know much about him. He was the opener for Mountain this night, June 30, 2010 at the BB King Blues Club. Accompanying Matt were Jonny Henderson on organ and Kevin Hayes on drums. Jonny also handled the bass duties on the keyboard. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed Matt's set, so much so that when he announced that he was playing another club, The Living Room on July 6, I made it a point to catch him there as well.
At The Living Room I did manage to speak briefly with Matt and gave him a couple of 8x10 prints from his BB King's show. I figured that being from the UK he might want to have a couple of photos from his BB King's show in New York.
At The Living Room his fine blues chops were on display again. His tone was great, and that's coming from a non-guitarist like me. Jonny and Kevin supported Matt beautifully. Some of you may know that Kevin was Robert Cray's drummer for a long time. All I can tell you is Matt is definitely work seeing and hearing. If he shows up in your area by all means head on out and check him out. I think you'll like what you hear.
