NEW YORK BLUES: The Beat Goes On- John Lee Hooker Jr.
What's up blues fans! This week I am submitting photos of John Lee Hooker, Jr. and a few of John Nemeth. These two acts got the festivities started before Walter Trout hit the stage. I posted some photos of Walter Trout last week. Check them out if you haven't already. John Nemeth came out first and did a short set with his band. I didn't know anything about John but he was pretty good. I'm sure he was just warming up when he had to leave the stage. That's how it goes for opening bands sometimes.
John Lee Hooker, Jr. was up next and he had more time to do his thing. I didn't know what to expect from Hooker Jr. but I was pleasantly surprised. He put on a very energetic show and his band was funky, bluesy and tight. Hooker Jr. has great stage presence and slick moves. His drummer, whose name I didn't catch, really drove the band with his forceful playing. As a drummer myself I like to see drummers play with some authority and this guy surely did. I wouldn't mind catching this band again sometime.
