NEW YORK BLUES: The Beat Goes On- Chris McDermott & Johnny Allen
One of the good things about doing photography for this site is that it has opened my eyes and ears to some really talented players that I might have otherwise missed. I catch live bands on a fairly regular basis but now I'm catching more blues artists and it's been a treat. People like Michael Hill, Clarence Spady, Michael Powers, Bobby Radcliff, Ana Popovic, Johnny Allen, Chris McDermott and SaRon Crenshaw, who I just caught a couple of nights ago with a full band and they were smokin'!
I've been going to live shows for a long time and have seen many bands in my day. Hearing good music performed by good musicians in a live setting is, for me, one of the most enjoyable pleasures in life. The fact that I've been in various bands and played some gigs goes a long way in my appreciation for live music. I tell people every chance I get that while it's nice to listen to music at home they have to get out and catch bands onstage in their most unbridled and feral state. Or, to quote the title of a Thin Lizzy album...Live and Dangerous!!
This week I am submitting photos of two more artists whose shows I enjoyed very much, Chris McDermott and Johnny Allen. Captured where else but at the home of the Blues in New York City...Terra Blues!
Enjoy
