Joe Krown by Nelson Onofre

OK Blues fans, today I am featuring photos of Joe Krown from a March 11th show at Sullivan Hall in New York. For those of you that may not know Joe he is a New Orleans styled piano and Hammond B-3 player. Joe was the keyboard player for Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown & Gate’s Express from 1992 to 2005.

At Sullivan Hall Joe was joined by Walter “Wolfman” Washington on guitar and Russell Batiste Jr. on drums. I'm a big fan of the Hammond B-3 organ so I thoroughly enjoyed this show. Go to Joe's website to find out more about Joe and his accomplishments and maybe check out some of his CDs.

I want to thank Tammy at Moonstruck Promotions for the access

Blues Summit by Nelson Onofre

OK Blues fans, this week I have photos from the Blues Summit: James Cotton & Friends show which took place at the Rose Theater at Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York on June 24. This was a star-studded event which featured some big names from the Blues world such as Hubert Sumlin, Pinetop Perkins, Taj Mahal, Shemekia Copeland, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith and James Cotton, whose band supported the artists during the evening's festivities. The Rose Theater was filled to near capacity which was nice to see for a Blues show.

James Cotton and his band got the ball rolling and they were joined by his friends as the show went on. I had seen most of the artists before so the highlight of the evening for me was to see and hear the legendary Pinetop Perkins. With intermission included the show ran around two hours. All in all it was a very entertaining evening and for Blues fan this was a great place to be. This was my first time at the Rose Theater and it is a beautiful concert hall. I hope to see some more shows there in the near future.

I'd like to thank Scott Thompson of Jazz At Lincoln Center for the press credentials.

James Armstrong by Nelson Onofre

OK Blues fans, this week I am featuring photos of James Armstrong, another one of those guys that has slipped past my radar. These are from a recent show at Terra Blues on June 3 and in true Terra Blues fashion it was another good show. I can tell you that James has two WC Handy Awards nominations and that he was worked with the likes of Coco Montoya, Chaka Khan, Albert Collins, Keb Mo, Mitch Mitchell and Ricky Lee Jones. Go out and catch this fine bluesman when he hits a venue near you.

A tip of the cap to Richard Lee at Terra Blues for letting me do my thing.
Until the next go-round, keep supporting the Blues. As you can see these cats are working hard to lay it down for you.
