Eric Sardinas and Big Motor
CoachHouse Concert Hall
San Juan Capistrano, CA
5-15-10
After an all too short warm up set by LA Bluesman Dennis Jones, the crowd at San Juan Capistrano's CoachHouse Concert Hall was primed and ready when Eric Sardinas (born in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. 1970) and Big Motor hit the stage. Brandishing his trademark resonator guitar Sardinas represented the delta blues genre in top form while soon diverting from the delta path to his own unique and highly charged style which is truly one of a kind.

Eric was born a lefty and by the age of 6 years old had figured out how to play a right handed guitar and as incredible as that sounds, it's true. E.S. can hold his own with anyone in the business, but don't ask me for comparisons because there aren't any. Eric is as much a 'specialty' guitar player as you'll ever hear and almost as hard to categorize. From the intense acoustic Robert Johnson style singing directly to his audience away from the micraphone to the butt kicking, in your face, driving delta rhythms Sardinas delivers it all with flare, a powerful voice, huge stage presence and a truckload of soul.
Along with (and in direct contrast to) the six stringed animal he slings, Eric is as humble and as nice a man as I've ever met. He digs his work and it shows, see him live and you'll know what I mean. With that I'll leave you with a quote directly from Eric's bio:

"With legions of corporate-fueled, musical puppets littering our stages and airways, originality has become virtually extinct within the landscape of today's popular music. Fortunately there's Eric Sardinas. His unique sound and honest delivery are breathing life back into the lungs of a stale industry on the verge of collapse. Sardinas is both a welcome reminder of the finest unfiltered music from an era bygone, as well as, a glimpse into a future realm of infinite sonic liberty. He's a courageous trailblazer who's constant repudiating routine limits and challenging all genre inherent boundaries with his wild innovations. So, - if you find yourself understandably lost and aimlessly drifting through a sad sea of musical mediocrity... find Eric Sardinas."
I couldn't have said it better myself ! You only have a couple more chances to catch Eric live before he takes off for Europe, here they are:
